Audio questions
Answers that apply across this category.
Is audio conversion lossless?
Converting to a lossless format such as WAV or FLAC preserves what is already in the file. It cannot restore quality that a previous lossy compression removed.
Why is media conversion slower?
Audio and video encoding is genuinely CPU intensive. Processing happens locally, so speed depends on your device rather than a server queue.

Conversions in this category are designed to run on your device wherever the browser makes it possible. Where a format needs a codec the browser does not ship, the tool downloads that codec as a WebAssembly module the first time you use it, and the page tells you before you start.
Nothing is uploaded for supported tools. If a future tool needs to process a file on a server, that will be stated on the tool page before you select a file, along with how long the file is kept.
